Alberta MAHAFFEY

Alberta Mahaffey (Bert) was born in Decatur, Alabama on February 26, 1931 and gave her life to Christ at a young age. She graduated from Decatur Negro High School. On July 3, 1954, Alberta married Richard Mahaffey and they had three daughters. On Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the age of 85, she transitioned from this life.

She was a long-time, faithful member of New Hope Lutheran Church, and former member of Westwood Lutheran Church serving faithfully until her health prevented it.

For numerous years, "Bert" was a dedicated nurse and devoted friend to Dr. Morris Brown, M.D. In addition, she was an avid, skillful and award-winning bowler.

Alberta was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Richard G. Mahaffey and brother, Henry D. Hubbard. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Gwyneth Branch (Arthello) of Richmond, VA; Alycia and ReGina Mahaffey of Dayton; four grandsons, A're and Marquis Mahaffey of Dayton, Garret Mahaffey of Richmond, VA, and Keylon M. Patterson of Manchester, MO; one great-granddaughter, Za'Tori Mahaffey of Richmond, VA; a host of friends, former co-workers, bowling partners and distant relatives.
