Callie HILLSMAN

Callie Hillsman , 90, passed away on January 22, 2016 at the Pristine Nursing Home.

Born on the McFadden Place in Dallas County, Alabama, Callie came into the world to the union of Nelson Kemp and Rosie Blake on July 13, 1925. She was one of nine children, Guyree, Willie, William, Wallace, Oliver, Louise, Laura, and Mary, who all preceded her in death.

Callie left Alabama and attended nursing school in Dayton, Ohio. Upon completion of her studies she worked for many years at the hospital until retirement.

She met Otha Hillsman to whom she dedicated her life in holy matrimony for over forty years. Although there were no children to this union, she was mother to many children whom he supported and encouraged.

For over sixty years Callie was a soldier in the army of the Lord and her post was the Shiloh Baptist Church of Dayton ,OH. She spoke highly of her church, and the choir in which she sang until she could attend nor sing any longer. Until her passing, she desired to fellowship at Shiloh Baptist.

Surviving her is a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, family members, friends and loved ones.
