Calvin Kahill

Calvin Kahill began his journey in Cincinnati, OH on May 7, 1940. He was born to the late Dorothy Kahill. After a series of health challenges, God called him home on Sunday, December 7, 2014. He was surrounded by love.

Calvin attended the old Woodward High School in Downtown Cincinnati. After high school, Calvin enlisted in the United States Army. After an honorable discharge, he returned home where he worked various construction jobs over his 30-year career. During his years of construction, Calvin helped build various buildings at the University of Cincinnati as well as Lytle Tunnel. Needing something to keep him occupied, Calvin returned to work as a fork lift operator. He fully retired when his health required him to do so.

Prior to challenges with his health, Calvin enjoyed loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling and visited the Bahamas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Jamaica, Las Vegas, and many more places. He loved watching sports especially boxing and football and enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and going to the casino and concerts.

Calvin was strong-willed and spirited. He had an opinion about everything and had no problem sharing his "take" with others (LOL). Additionally, Calvin had a sense of humor and an amazing sense of style. He was always trashing talking and "messing" with people. He was well-known by the doctors, staff, and caregivers at the West Chester Medical Center, United Transportation, and Da-Vita Dialysis. Calvin was always well-groomed and loved to put on his clothes. He believed in keeping up his appearance especially his signature mustache. Calvin wasn't dressed if his pants weren't creased (he even ironed his uniforms), shoes shined, and topped it with off with a hat. He will be remembered for his suits and his strut in them.

He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was affectionately known by the nickname of "Sonny" a name given to him by his mother.

Both of Calvin's parents, preceded him in death. The last fifteen years of his life were spent with his best friend and companion, Diane Wilson. Diane was there during all of his sicknesses and was his primary caregiver. Calvin was able to spend his last days with his son, Duane Bess, and daughter, LaToya Everett.

He leaves not to mourn his death, but to celebrate his life: his life partner and faithful friend Diane Wilson; cousins Barbara Jean Suggs, Billy Ramsey, and Phyllis DeLong; his children - two daughters and eight sons; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family and friends.
