Charles Georg August von Dietrich KNIGHTON

Author & U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, Charles Georg August von Dietrich Knighton, of Avondale, son of George Duhme Newstedt & Mabel Victoria Posegate Brownlee, departed for heaven, 16 April 2016 at 9:53 A.M. Born 28 Sept. 1932, Cincinnati, Charles, age 83, died at Christ Hospital after a month of battling cardiac and respiratory issues. Drafted, he served our nation in Seoul, Korea (1952-1954) followed by U.S. Army Reserves, 1954-1960s. In 1960, he graduated from University of Cincinnati’s Applied Arts College and worked for decades as a Commercial Interior Designer. A passionate family historian and DNA pioneer, he authored books, CDs, and articles tracing lineages. A longtime member of Decorative Arts Society (DASC), Hamilton Co. Genealogical Society, and Cincinnati Caledonian Pipes & Drums, memorials would be appreciated. Charles leaves: a half-brother, R. Bruce Brownlee, Avondale; a half-sister, Carla Krug Newstedt Turp, Land O’ Lakes, FL; many cousins including: Barbara Krogmann Hesse (Donald); Christopher K. Wiedamann (Gayle), Kenwood; Heidi I. Wiedamann Blinka, Akron, OH.

Visitation: 9:15 AM at Section 132 Lot 577. Burial Service with Full Military Honors at 10 AM. Turn right after entering Gray Rd’s North Gate, Spring Grove Cemetery, Sat. Apr 23, 2016.
