Clarence SLAUGHTER

Clarence was born on July 20, 1989 to the late Karen Denise Scott and William Eugene Slaughter. He departed on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in New Orleans, LA. He attended Dunbar High school and was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. Clarence accepted Christ at an early age. Clarence joined Valley Grove Baptist Church, along with his father William Slaughter and brother Patrick Slaughter. They were all baptized together.

Clarence was a talented musician who started his career in Dayton, Ohio in elementary school. He was taught by Mr. Tumust Allison who was a talented instructor who put in a lot of time to teach and train Clarence as well as the other young boys who participated. This group of boys was the second generation of SYM. That is where Clarence was able to excel. They entered a contest at the Apollo Club in New York City. They won the contest and was the talk of town. From that point Clarence would be allowed to play around town to hone in on his talent. Clarence would play for different churches as well as Jazz Central and various other events.

After his father's death he moved on, he went to New Orleans. He played with several Bands. He travelled the world at a young age going to Brazil, China, England, Japan and around the country. He also played on several cruise ships. He did the things that he loved and playing the saxophone was his passion. He enjoyed his life.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents William Eugene Slaughter and Karen Denise Scott; paternal grandmother Elizabeth Scott and paternal grandfather Eugene Slaughter; brother Finley Mitchell; and stepmother Beverly Quaggas.

Clarence is survived by his grandmother Lorraine Slaughter; brother William Patrick Slaughter of Dayton, Ohio; Arnita Palmer and Tara Scott both of Cleveland, OH; aunts Ernestine Brown, Lorraine White, Wanda Jones, Rochelle Slaughter and uncle Byrd of Dayton, Ohio; Sandra Foster of Philadelphia Pa; Clarence Scott of Orlando Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and special friend Mario Abney.
