Damon ULMER

Damon Cecil Ulmer Sr., 93, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother went home to be with the lord on May 2, 2016. He was born May 22, 1922 in Butler, Alabama to Oliver and Ellen Ulmer.

Damon spent four years of his life, serving the United States Military as an Army Private First Class during World War II. He was honorably discharged with a Victory Medal of Honor on January 10, 1946. After arriving in Cincinnati, Damon began working for the City of Cincinnati, as a heavy equipment operator, retiring after 28 years. He finished up his career with Merchant Security, where he was employed for nearly 25 years.

Damon is survived by his loving wife Helen Ulmer; children: Ellena Ulmer, children: Eleasa Hampton and Dante Ulmer; Denise McKay (Bryant McKay), children: Cameron McKay and Chance McKay; Margaret Peterson, children: Joseph Peterson IV and Jowann Peterson; Damon Ulmer (Tammy Ulmer), children: Damon Butler, Janay Butler, Sasha Williams and Dae’Aunna Ulmer; Kim Ulmer and Tammy Ulmer. Step children: Bridget Rousseau (Ronald Rousseau Jr.), children: Ronald Rousseau III and Brieal Rousseau; Billy Johnson, children: Deandre Robbins and Collin Thomas; Pamela Johnson, children: Aramis Johnson (son Julian Ingram Jr), Vontrez Johnson (son Kason Jordan) and Ambrea Johnson; and Angela Warner, children: Brycen Warner.

Damon was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Ellen Ulmer and step mother Pearlie Ulmer; wife Margaret Ulmer; Siblings: Maggie, Lawrence, Willie, Estelle, Johnnie, Ben, Ruby, Nathan, Josephine, RC, Carrie and Ed.

Special acknowledgement to nephews and nieces Abner Knox, John Knox, Ben Ulmer Jr., Peggy Campbell and Diane Williams. Also special friend Gary Larkin. Damon is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great grandchildren and friends in Alabama, as well as Ohio.

Services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, May 10 at 10am(wake), funeral 11am at D A P Ministries, 5071 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Interment to follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine, Cincinnati, OH 45220. Repast to follow at 1106 Woodlawn Ave., Price Hill, 45205.
