Denise SAMUELS
TIME TO BE BORN: “For you created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth” Psalms 139: 13-15.

Denise “Nisie” Samuels was born on March 19th, 1959 to the late George W. Caulton, Jr and Ernestine Pittman in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the youngest of three children.

At a young age, Denise gave her life to the Lord at Stewart Chapel CME church under the pastorship of her grandfather, the late Rev. George W. Caulton Sr. As an adult she continued to seek the word of God and became a member of Tryed Stone Baptist Church. As she continued to grow in the Lord she found her final church home at the Word of Deliverance where she was known for her beautiful expressions of praise dancing with her tambourine. Denise loved her church family like her own and was a faithful servant supporting various ministries.

Denise attended Cincinnati Public Schools and was a graduate of Hughes High School, Class of 1977. She extended her education where she attended classes at the University of Cincinnati Evening College.

She was employed at Hoxworth Blood Center for several years and later completed her career at the University of Cincinnati in Parking and Public Safety. After 31years of service, Denise retired in December of 2008. In her retirement, she continued to work in various administrative capacities.

On September 27th, 1980 Denise Samuels and Terrence McMillan gave birth to a beautiful daughter Tasha Lynne, “The Baby”, whom she loved and adored. Because of her big heart and mothering spirit she raised her nephew Carl McCall Jr. (Mann) and her niece Shonda Hubbard (Ward) as her own. Denise was a mother to many.

Denise enjoyed and lived life to her fullest potential. She was very independent and had a mind of her own. Keeping God first, she did things her way even up until her final days. Her strength was visible and her love was palpable to all who encountered her. Denise greeted everyone with a BIG hug and there wasn’t a stranger she didn’t meet. Denise enjoyed hours of shopping at the Goodwill and other consignment shops. Bowling, dancing, and soft ball were some of her favorite past times.

Denise truly believed in the purpose and importance of family. She always made it a priority to keep her family connected by coordinating family reunions and holiday dinners. Each and every birthday, before your head would leave the pillow, you would receive a phone call and hear her beautiful voice singing “Happy Birthday”.

With her whole heart she loved and adored her grandchildren, her “Three Heartbeats”. She was very instrumental in raising them to be who they are today. She shared her love of God with them and spoke life into them during their growing pains. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She left them with countless memories that will live in their hearts forever.

Most importantly Denise loved the Lord with every fiber of her being. He was the first she acknowledged as she awoke each day and the last she acknowledge at night. She praised him daily without reservation. Everything she did in life was in line with God’s purpose. She was a prayer warrior and interceder for her family and friends. She expressed the love of God to all who encountered her.

A Time To Rest: “ We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” (II Corinthians 5:8)
