Donald STOKES

Donald Edward Stokes aka "Big Donnie" was born January 28, 1954 to the late Robert B. and Etta Mae Stokes in Big Stone Gap, VA. On February 29, 2016, at 3:48 pm, God dispatched an angel from heaven to enter Donnie from labor to reward.

Donnie attended Cincinnati public schools, and later receiving his GED. Donnie went on to pursue his degree in culinary arts that allowed him to work numerous jobs as a chef, also being the "cook of the family". Donnie did not stop there. He received his associated degree in business administration from National College.

Donnie accepted Christ joining the Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor H.M. Smith serving on the usher board. Donnie later joined and was baptized at the Corinthian Baptist Church which he really enjoyed the services and the preaching and teaching of Pastor K.Z. Smith until his health failed him.

Donnie was a great father, friend, and cook. He loved dancing, clubbing, music "the blues" and was a dynamic "roller skater".
Donnie will be truly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Robert, Sr. and Etta Mae Stokes; sister Velma Ann Heard; and brother Robert B. Stokes, Jr. "Pete".

He leaves to cherish his memory children Elaine, Victoria Johnson-Tucker, Caroline "Cookbook" (Calvin), Crystal (Steven), Moneca; sons Donald (Little Donnie), Harvey, Robert, Donshey, Michael, Mark, and Peter, all from Cincinnati, Ohio; 42 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Linda Bonner (Johnny), and Pamela Fannon (Larry); brothers Dwight (Nikke), Maurice, and Peter Gunn; brother-in-law Freddie Heard; a special cousin "Tunky"; special sisters the Johnson Girls Clarissa, Cheryl, Sandra, Edwina, and Shawn; the Eubanks family Pat, Rissa, Canary, Brenda, Beck, Daniel, Kenny, and Harvey; long time friend and companion Carol Eubanks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
