Elaine HAMPTON

Sylvia Marion “Elaine” Hampton nee Simons (known by her close friends and family as “Sunshine”) was born in Bermuda on March 14, 1947, to the late Herbert James Barnard Simons and the late Mary Louise Simons of Bermuda.

Have you ever met a person who made you feel so happy? A person who you could talk to about anything and know that it stayed between you and that one person? The person you call your best friend?

Elaine was that kind of caring person. She would always sacrifice her time to help others, and was given the name “Sunshine” by many for her cheer and contagiously happy disposition. Everyone knew her to be compassionate, loving, and a Godly Woman. She had a magical connection with people, and everyone who met her fell in love with her!

Elaine was the very first Miss Bermuda in 1965. She later married Wilson Andrew Hampton in Bermuda in 1968. From this union were born two children: James Theodore Coleman Hampton and Danielle Keiko Kilani Hampton. Elaine has lived in Ohio, Florida, Hawaii, Texas, Philippines, Virginia and has been living in Cincinnati since 1983.

Elaine has worked at many places from retail to home health, and was always one of the top employees receiving varying awards which recognized her valuable contribution. Through these jobs she carried out her personal ministry spreading sunshine and love; no one was a stranger to her.

Elaine was the middle child of 15 children. She is preceded in death by both of her parents and her siblings; Frederick Symonds, Wayne Simons, Joan Bean and Wallace Symonds. She leaves her sisters Eleanor Martin, Greta Bullen, Sherlyn Lupparelli, Lynell Parks, Sandra Burburry, Valerie Wright; and, her brothers Stanley Symonds, George Symonds, Gary Simons, and Loren Simons. Also leaving behind aunts, uncles, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Special friends: Eddie Croft, Eula Hampton, Idella Hampton, Veronica Gillespie, Edna Elder, Pastors Eardley and Wilbur Nesbitt, and many others too numerous to mention whom she loved dearly.
