Elvie EDWARDS

Elvie M. Edwards was born on August 1, 1939 in York, Alabama to parents Richard Fountain and Estelle Wade. Elvie eventually left the nest of the south to settle in Cleveland, Ohio where she spent over 20 years working for the health and happiness of others as a surgical technician. While there, Elvie inspired and cared for her four children, Michael, Bryan, Kim, and Kenneth and frequently spent time with her beloved cousin Ethel Wade. Though tragedy ultimately took the life of her middle son Bryan, Elvie remained a pillar of strength and courage for the family. She eventually moved to Dayton to remain in the company of her mother. Elvie remained steadfast despite more loss, this time including her sister Dorothy. Elvie also struggled with several terminal illnesses including cancer and diabetes, but fought with sheer will and desire to experience life as normally as possible until she drew her last breath on January 2nd, 2016. In the face of hardship, she remained vibrant and lively, sustaining great energy for her grand-children, Carl, Kiana, Tara, Nicole, and Danielle and even her five still new but rapidly growing great-grandchildren. Sometimes hard as stone in her conviction, she was ultimately a spirit that thrived for life and happiness in the face of even the darkest of hours.
