Ezzel BRYANT, JR.

Was called home Sunday, January 4, 2015. Ezzel, affectionately called “Zeke”, Jr and “Uncle Jr.” was the son of Ezzel Lin Bryant, Sr and Geneva (Moore) Bryant was born June 3, 194 and a lifelong resident of Dayton, OH. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served in the Sanctuary Choir, Gospel Ensemble and Men’s Chorus. He married Wanda Louise Tolliver January 27, 1968. They remained a loving union until her passing in 1997. Ezzel graduated from Roth High School in 1964 and Central State University in 1968 with a B.A. in Music Education. He taught in the Dayton Public School System, worked Security for NCR Corporation and YMCA, until retiring in 1998. Ezzel was a renowned musician throughout Ohio. He was a band leader, playing both tenor and baritone saxophone for the incomparable Dayton Imperials. He often spoke of his band brothers and loved them all dearly. The pride and joy of his heart were his wife and daughter, his sister and all of his nieces. Zeke loved all of his family greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Newman and Bedelia Townsend and wife of 29 years. He leaves to mourn his passing, Jenna Lynn Bryant (daughter); Josephine Bryant Miller (sister); Rhonda Joyce Townsend (sister-in-law); a host of other family members and friends. Special thanks to the Heart and Vascular Staff at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kindred Hospital and Cypress Pointe Nursing and PT Staff. Service of memory Saturday, January 10, 2015 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church 401 S Paul Laurence Dunbar, Dr. Charles Brown, officiating. Family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
