James MCDANIEL, SR

James E. McDaniel Sr. age 86, of Dayton, passed June 13, 2015. He was born March 7, 1929 in Oil City, PA to the late Oliver and Lula McDaniel. James retired from DESC in 1994. He later worked as a security guard for Merchant Security, and then moved on to be a driver for Sugarcreek Packaging.

James was quiet, wise, very strong spirited and a hard worker. He didn’t let his sickness stop him from working. You would have never known he had prostate cancer or renal failure. He loved to bowl, holding a record in ten pins. He ran track, played baseball, basketball and football in high school. One of his favorite things was listening to good gospel music. He loved his wife’s cooking, especially her fried chicken, apple turnovers and sweet potato pie.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian McDaniel, sisters; Lula, Gussie, Jennie, Ethel, Mary and Naomi, Brothers; William and Oliver.

He is survived by his sister Ruth Daniels, children; Karen (Marcel) Howard, Vincine Brown-Williams, Joyce Gilbert, Tiyette McDaniel, JoAnn McDaniel, James E. (Renee) McDaniel Jr, Anita (Dwight) Clay, 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a host of loving and dedicated in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

The Visitation (12p) and Funeral (1p) will be on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Corinthian Baptist Church, 700 S James H Mcgee Blvd. Military Honor Commital (3pm) will be at Dayton National Cemetery.
