Mary CAREY

Mary Jane Frances Scott Carey was born on February 21, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to the union of Edward J. Scott and Frances Catherine Scott. She departed this life on June 4, 2015.

Mary's education began at the Dodie School, the Kramer School and culminated at the
Michigan State School for the Blind in Lansing from where she graduated in 1962. During high school, Mary learned to play four different instruments (piano, organ, violin and viola).

In 1963, Mary moved to Cincinnati to work at the Clovernook Center for the Blind whereshe also met George Henry Carey. They were married May 16, 1964 and to the union was born Scott and LeAnne.

Mary first attended the Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1995 under Pastor Harold Gaskins. Later, in 2010 she received further instruction in doctrine and became a baptized member of the Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church under Pastor Harcourt King. While a member, she worked in Community Services helping to feed families in need. She served as a Sabbath School pianist and assisted in Disabilities programs wherever needed. She enjoyed the teachings and discussion of the Sabbath School Class of Elder Eugene and Sister Sheila Robinson. During the Wednesday night prayer meetings and other services, she posed challenging queries to ponder of the subjects for discussion. Mary was a blessing as a prayer partner to Catherine Burks. She believed in the ethic of being early and on time.

Mary's son Scott preceded her in death, November, 1986 and her late husband George in January, 1994. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, LeAnne Christine - three siblings: one brother Keith Scott (Violet), two sisters: Elaine Richards (John) and Rachel Smith (Fred) and a host of friends.
