Otis WILLIAMS, SR

Otis Williams, Sr., 80, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, in Cincinnati, Ohio, following a long battle with a serious illness.

From the union of Otis Williams, Sr., and Sarah Mae Smith, he leaves his daughter, Diana S. Williams; his son, Otis Williams, Jr., (and his spouse, Tanya); his three grandchildren: Jawayne Woodard, (and his spouse, Shermikao); Kennedy Williams, and Kaleb Williams; two great grandchildren: Janyla Woodard and Jawayne Woodard, III; many nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

Otis was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, the son of Dock and Lula Williams. Otis was the youngest of 10 children (4 sisters and 5 brothers): Ida, Dora, Dock (Honey), Bertha, Willie, Thomas, Mattie, Lindsey, and Herbert.

Otis moved to Cincinnati, OH in 1952. After graduating from high school, he voluntarily joined the United States Air Force, where he served his country as both a military police officer and firefighter. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Otis returned to Cincinnati, OH and worked various jobs to support his family. In 1971, Otis went to truck driving school and became a cross-country truck driver for Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Otis had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a passion for reading and history. One of his favorite past-times was hanging out with family and friends and bowling at the Mulberry Inn.

In accordance with his final wishes, Otis will be laid to rest in Dayton National Cemetery with full military honors.
