Ruth Ann BASS

Age 84, daughter of the late Mable Mukes and Irvin Lee Ralston was born March 13, 1930 in Dayton, OH and went home on Friday, February 27, 2015, two weeks before her eighty fifth birthday. Ruth was educated in the Dayton Public Schools System. She later devoted her time as a homemaker and hairstylist.

Ruth was an amazing woman, which was displayed through the many family and friends who always wanted to be in her company. She enjoyed her coffee in the mornings, spending the day watching movies and chatting about the good ol ’ days with family. Ruth was a provider and protector of not only her eight children (six boys and two girls) but gave care to countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.

Ruth was preceded in death by her companion Robert “Mr. Rip” Mayfield; brother, Leon Ralston; sons Michael and Kenneth Johnson. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her sister, Mable Nelson of Dayton, OH; children: Bernadine Ralston, Gary Johnson of Dayton,OH M.e. Johnson of Indianapolis, IN; Ronald Jackson of Dayton, OH; Jene D. Cook Jr. of Greenville, NC; Dean (Kimberly) Cook of Ft. Washington, MD; and Scott (Chanté) Bass of Huber Heights, OH along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, beloved nephew Marvin “Punchie” Nelson, special friends Bernice “Nick” Creath, Diane Roland, and a multitude of other dear friends.

Service of memory Thursday, March 5, 2015 1:00 p.m. at Bowman & Young Funeral Chapel 2060 Germantown St. Public viewing after 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary where the family will receive friends 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment Green Castle Cemetery.
