Sharon Patterson

Sharon Lynn Gray Patterson was born on July 17, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Mary and the late William Gray, Sr. She departed this life on January 24, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

Sharon was the oldest of five children born to Mary and William Gray, Sr.: Billy, Pam, Eric and Lewis. Sharon was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church Walnut Hills under Rev. Edmondson.

Sharon graduated from Aiken High School. She sang in the school choir as well as participated in the modern dance club. She was also very active in the arts community performing in local plays. Sharon was known for having a sense of humor; keeping us in stitches.

Sharon was a debutante in 1966. She was a junior soror of the National Association of Colored Women's Club. Sharon worked various jobs in the health industry.

Sharon relocated to Bangor, Maine where she met and married Leroy Patterson. To this union was born three children, Leroy Jr., twins, Ronald and Erica Patterson.

One of the happiest memories we have of Sharon was when she sang a few songs at our mother's 85th birthday celebration. She was always willing to share in song.

Sharon leaves to cherish her memory: a loving mother, Mary E. Gray; three children, Leroy Patterson, Jr., Ronald Patterson, and Erica Patterson; three sisters, Pamela Gray Blasingame (Lafayette), Marsha Payne (Gregory), and Robin Moore (George); four brothers, William Gray, Jr., Eric Gray (Susan), Lewis Gray of Columbus, Ohio, and Louis Gray (Georgia); one aunt, Rose Palmer (Willie); a special niece who looked after her during her illness, Kelly Dozier; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
